Domestic Property - Withernsea

A two-storey, four-bedroom family home suffered catastrophic damage when a severe fire engulfed the entire property. Despite the efforts of the fire service, the blaze devastated the dwelling, leaving little more than the external structure standing. During firefighting operations, thousands of gallons of water were used to extinguish the flames, leaving the remaining building fabric heavily saturated.

The recovery process was further complicated by a dispute between the homeowner and their insurer, which delayed reinstatement for ten months. During this period, the damaged structure remained exposed to the elements, allowing additional moisture to penetrate the building and significantly increasing the extent of the drying challenge.

Once a financial settlement had been reached, the property was made weatherproof through the installation of a new roof, windows, and external doors. Xeric was then appointed to carry out a specialist drying programme designed to address the extreme levels of moisture trapped within the building fabric.

Using high-energy drying equipment and a carefully managed moisture monitoring process, our team rapidly reduced moisture levels throughout the structure. Despite the severity of the damage and prolonged exposure, the drying programme was successfully completed within just two weeks, allowing reinstatement works to commence and the property's recovery to move forward without further delay.
