Hemswell Court Cellar Flood

Many domestic and commercial properties feature cellars or basement areas below ground level. While these spaces can provide valuable storage or operational space, their location makes them particularly vulnerable to damp ingress and flooding. To protect against water penetration, tanking systems are often installed. However, these systems can deteriorate or fail over time, especially if they are not regularly inspected and maintained.

When a cellar floods, the consequences can be significant. Moisture can become trapped within walls, floors, and contents, making conventional drying methods slow, costly, and often ineffective. In many cases, achieving complete drying can appear almost impossible.

Xeric was called upon to assist following a cellar flood at Hemswell Antiques in Lincolnshire. The flooded basement presented a challenging drying environment due to its below-ground construction and the extent of water ingress. By deploying our specialist high-energy drying system, we were able to rapidly remove moisture from the affected area and accelerate the drying process far beyond what traditional methods could achieve.

The results were outstanding. Despite the challenging conditions, the cellar was fully dried within just 10 days, allowing the client to resume normal operations quickly and minimise disruption to their business.
