Somerset Levels Flooding

In December 2013 the South West of England was severely affected by high winds and heavy rainfall. This, along with the controversial lack of dredging in the River Parrett, caused complete devastation to the Somerset Levels.

Xeric Limited were appointed to dry a significant number of properties in the area and only when vehicles could finally get through could Xeric assess the task ahead and plan a suitable drying strategy. By this time some of the properties had been under water for at least 37 days leaving everyone in the area, especially the home owners, very exasperated.

Because of how high profile the flooding was in the national and global media, with a serious threat to the security of the properties affected, movements in and around the Levels were restricted, so it was vital to schedule all deliveries and deploy all equipment very carefully around the building enabling works.

Within two days of all strip-out works being completed, Xeric had installed all the drying equipment and remote monitoring systems and the drying process was initiated.

The properties were ready for reinstatement works in just a matter of day, whilst traditional methods of drying were still ongoing elsewhere in the region. Xeric proved to be efficient, safe and professional from beginning to end.
